What Is the Exploring Adventure Scholarship?
The Exploring Adventure Scholarship gives youth the opportunity to learn to ski or snowboard through Hilltop’s supportive, community-based programs. Designed for first-time riders, this scholarship lowers financial barriers and helps kids build confidence, skills, and a love for outdoor adventure.
Exploring Adventure Scholarship
Hilltop Ski Area is proud to offer the Exploring Adventure Scholarship, created to help Alaska families introduce their children to skiing or snowboarding in a low-cost, supportive, community environment.
To apply, simply have your child write a story or essay, OR draw a picture, comic, or cartoon that shares why they want to learn to ski or snowboard. We’re looking for enthusiasm and creativity—not perfection.
What the Scholarship Provides:
Four beginner lessons in our Mogul Moose program
Sundays, 1:30pm–3:30pmFull equipment rental
Lift ticket for the day
This scholarship reflects our nonprofit mission: creating outdoor recreational opportunities for Alaska youth and helping kids gain confidence, skills, and lifelong love for winter adventure.
Parent Notes:
Your child will need gloves, snow pants, a warm jacket, and winter layers. Lessons, equipment, and tickets are all included.
If you want your child to learn in a supportive, community-focused setting, this is a wonderful way to get them started.

How to Apply
Kids can express themselves through writing or art—whatever feels right.
They can submit one of the following:
An essay or short story
A drawing
A cartoon or comic
The prompt: Why do you want to learn to ski or snowboard, and what does winter adventure mean to you?
Creativity and enthusiasm matter more than spelling or artistic ability.
