FAQs

How do I book a lesson?

We book our lessons over the phone. If you would like to book a lesson please call Ski School at (907) 346-2169.

Will my child ride the chair lift with an instructor?

In group lessons the majority of the time students will be partnered with other students. The instructor coordinates the students getting on the lift and then load with the last student if there is space. If there isn’t space, they ride on the chair behind the group.

Are lift tickets included with lessons?

Yes, lift tickets are included in the price of the lessons. The ticket is good for the whole day of the lesson to encourage the student to practice after the lesson.

Do I need to be with my child for ski school check-in?

Yes, students must be checked in with a parent or guardian. All ski school lessons check-in outside in the ski school meeting place.

Do I need to check-out my child from ski school?

Parents are required to pick children up at the end of lesson, unless a parent release has been signed and is on file allowing students to “free ski” unsupervised.

Can I stay with my child during lessons?

During the actual lesson time, we recommend that parents observe from a distance to prevent disrupting the class.

Can I tip our instructors?

What ages do you offer lessons for?

We offer private lessons that start at age 3. Group lessons are for ages 6-16. Private lessons are offered to adults.

How early should I arrive beofre a lesson?

If you have your own gear, you should arrive 15 minutes before your lesson. If you have rentals but have already been pre-fitted, then please come 30 minutes prior. If you have not been pre-fit, an hour before lesson is necessary.

What happens if there is bad weather?

The two main weather reasons that Hilltop will cancel lessons are high winds and low temperatures. As soon as the decision to cancel lessons is made we will reach out to you and it will be posted on our website.
